about
This was originally a 30 second acoustic guitar and vocal thing recorded live. I always meant to go back and do more with it.....
It's a song with a rather strange resonance for me as it made for a moment of realisation about songs and meanings. Someone I know from a short time working together heard it and found consolation with health problems and impending treatment and he said it affected him deeply. This was humbling at any level but more so as the real genesis was a piece of extreme frippery.. I walked into a room and Deal or No Deal was on the TV. A very nice lady was up for the big prize and quite plainly the audience wanted her to win, but she left with pennies. The first line of the song appeared at that point and the rest in moments.
I've since heard the work colleague is extremely ill and so this song will always be dedicated to him along with the realisation that once you've finished a song and let it 'out there' its not really just yours anymore

Good Luck
CAPO 2nd Fret
Each verse
Am7 G x3
Cmaj7 G
Good Luck doesn’t have a conscience
It doesn’t matter what you deserve
You don’t know what comes round the corner
Open armed or ready to swerve
It’s fine, oh Lord it is fine
Whether by choice or design
You can’t make the luck that you have
Take a chance and don’t cross the line
Good Luck has a sense of humour
Often at our expence
You walk in expecting a million
Walking out with only fifty pence
It’s hard oh lord it is hard
Whether by choice or design
You can’t make the luck that you have
Take a chance and don’t cross the line
